Hwato acupuncture needles, named after the famous Hwa tuo, have been manufactured for more than 130 years. The combination of premium Chinese grade surgical steel, modern technology, and centuries of traditional expertise results in an acupuncture needle of supreme reliability, sharpness, and safety. The Hwato needle enjoys the respect of practitioners all over the world and is without a doubt one of the world’s most well-known needle. Such popularity translates into large production volume, ensuring the price to the practitioner is reasonable without any compromise to quality.
The needle is made from select 18-8 surgical grade stainless steel. This is first polished and then hand sharpened by highly experienced employees into the proprietary ‘pine needle’ shape. Years of company research and clinical experience has shown that the pine-needle shaped point is optimal for minimizing pain on insertion.
After polishing and sharpening, the needle handle is manufactured by winding fine copper wire tightly and symmetrically onto the needle shaft. The handle is bonded firmly to ensure that the handle can never separate from the shaft.
As a final step in manufacturing, every needle is ultrasonically cleansed ensuring the complete removal of oils and bonded microscopic residues. The use of this sophisticated equipment combined with strict quality control results in needles of excellent smoothness and cleanliness. After packing, the needles are sterilized by Ethylene Oxide Gas (EOG).
The resultant bi-metalic needle, with the traditional end loop, is favoured for its excellent thermal and electrical conductivity by practitioners around the world.
